JAMMU, Dec 21: To discuss the Vision Document for the proposed Livestock Development Corporation, Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Science & Technology Satesh Nehru today convened a meeting of Directors and heads of different organizations of Animal/ Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries here today.
During the meeting, discussion was held on the present livestock scenario in the State, future strategies for development of this sector, besides enrichment plan in respect of fodder and pasture development. The availability and the demand of the various livestock products was discussed threadbare.
While briefing about the vision document, the Secretary said that a road map has been laid to revamp the livestock sector in the State with a target to achieve self-sufficiency in meat, milk, poultry and fish in the State by 2025.
Mr. Nehru further exhorted upon the functionaries of the departments to redouble their efforts besides laying stress on the quality so that the gap between demand and production is bridged.
