KATHUA, Dec 21: ‘Inter school under-15 Football tournament was organised by School Sports Promotion Foundation (SSPF) and Sports Authority of India at Hiranagar Stadium today.
The 3-day league tournament is being conducted under their Talent Search and Nurture Programme, to search for talented footballers throughout the country for Under-17 Football World Cup, which is to be hosted by India in 2017. 4 teams from district Kathua, namely, Sai International School (Hiranagar), Army Public School (Janglot), Infant Jesus Convent School (Hiranagar) and Kartar Public School (Kathua) are participating in it.
The competition is being hosted by Sai International School which is actively doing a lot to promote sports in the area.
In the two matches played today, APS Janglot defeated KPS Kathua 12-0 and hosts Sai International managed to snatch a 1-1 draw against much superior Infant Jesus School. Tomorrow, Sai International School will lock horns with Army Public School Janglot in the first match and Infant Jesus School will play against KPS Kathua.
The matches are being conducted under the supervision of SSPF District Coordinator, Arun Paul Singh Jasrotia and Cluster Coordinator, Dil Bahadur Gurung and were officiated by Gagan Deep Singh, Sachin Khajuria and Arun.
Talented players are being watched carefully and selected by appointed selector for further stages of the tournament.’
