NEET will not weaken Article 370, says Mehbooba

SRINAGAR :  Rejecting allegations that National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will weaken Article 370 of the Constitution under which Jammu and Kashmir enjoys a special status, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said only State-Subjects of the State will get admission in medical colleges of the State.
Speaking on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly here this afternoon, she said Medical Council of India (MCI) Act has been implemented in the state in 1964-65 and their medical colleges in the state are under MCI.
However, only State Subjects are eligible for admission in our colleges, she said and questioned how it (NEET) is danger for Article 370.        Leader of the Opposition and National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah had yesterday alleged that government has failed to challenge NEET in Supreme Court (SC).
“I strongly trust the ability of our youths. I am proud of Shah Faisal who stood first in IAS and Athar who got second position,” she said, adding there are many youths who made it to different India services.        “Our youths will compete with any other student of the country,” she said and lauded Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar for starting “Super-50” coaching classes for youths in the State.
“Many of the youths cracked national level examinations,” she said, adding such coaching classes will be more beneficial for youths of weaker section.  (AGENCIES)
