SRINAGAR, Sept 8: National Conference has expressed concern over the plight of NEET aspirants who are undergoing inconvenience in reaching their designated exam centers outside valley due to log jams on the only national highway connecting Kashmir with other parts of the country.
” As NEET exams are around the corner on 13th of September, most of the students are still grappling to reach their designated exam centers across the country,” said Party Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar while expressing concern over the plight of students who he said were again at the receiving end due to the sluggish pace of traffic on the only national highway connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country.
As the Government on its part has asked the students to take to Mughal road, he said that the situation is no different. “The students who had taken Mughal road route to reach their destinations are presently stuck at Hirpura, where the situation is far from improving due to the incoming rush of truck loads carrying necessary merchandise to the valley,” he said and that after waiting for hours altogether, many aspirants moved back and tried to take to the Srinagar and Jammu national highway again.
“While the aspirants are struggling to reach their designated exam centers, the administration seems to have turned volt face to their woes; on the contrary, the aspirants are being dealt with high-handedly. We have been receiving SOS calls from many such aspirants who are stuck at Hirpura on Mughal road. These people have been burning their mid night oil for the forthcoming exams and in case they are not able to reach their exam centers, their hard work will unfortunately go in vain,” said the NC spokesperson.
He appealed the administration to allow the vehicles carrying aspirants on first priority, which unfortunately has not been done. “I urge the divisional administration and the concerned authorities to devise a strategy to give a passage to these aspirants on national highway and Mughal road on priority basis. If that is not possible then the Government should air lift these students to Jammu, where they can easily move ahead,” he said.
