Need based workers’ strike enters 21st day

Rajouri, June 9:  A massive protest demonstration of casual  labourers/need based workers of PWD (R&B) Department was held  under the banner of  PWD (R&B) Casual Labourers /Need Base Workers Union here.
Their strike / dharna in support of the long pending demands entered the 21st consecutive day today. Raising  their demands in one voice regarding creation of a special head for the purpose of paying regular wages, release of  pending wages, formulation of a concrete policy for regularization of services of casual labourers / need based workers / ITI trained workers, they sought to draw the attention of the Government towards their plight.
They have invited the attention of  J&K Government towards the burning demands of poor casual labourers/ need based workers / ITI trained workers of  PWD who have been working since 1994 and suffering badly due to absence of any concrete policy of the Government.  A large number of  casual labourers assembled in PWD (R&B) Complex Rajouri and raised slogans in support of their demands.
While addressing the gathering the union president  Mohd Riaz Mughal condemned the delaying policy of the Government  towards their genuine.
Mughal claimed that a mass rally will be held on  June 11 at Children Park Rajouri  near DC office in which the casual labourers/need based workers / ITI trained workers of all Departments will participate. Two District level employees Unions,  Pir Panchal Regional Employees Front and Employees Joint Action Committee and one State level Union namely J&K National Trade Union Front also assured to extend their whole hearted support to the strike. Abdul Kaleem Bhatti,   Shaheen Bhatt,  Sonika Sharma,  Murtaza Anjum Mir and  Riaz Ahmed Dar also addressed the gathering.
