JAMMU, Apr 18: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said liberal funding from Center to State has greatly helped in socio-economic development of the State, adding that several projects are under pipeline for urban and rural development to improve basic amenities.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the people after laying foundation for upgradation of internal link roads including construction of surface drains in the Housing Colony at Channi Himmat, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the work of the project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 67 lakh by Housing Board. He asked the officers to complete the projects within 15 days for the convenience of general masses. He said that Government was committed to develop every newly developed housing colonies of the State with all basic amenities like recreational park, safe drinking water, electricity and education, healthcare besides better roads, lanes and drains.
Responding to the demand of locals, the Minister informed the inhabitants of Housing Colony that Government has earmarked Rs. 20 lakh for developing the recreational park with the facilities of illumination, walkway, irrigation, seating and landscaping.
Regarding improvement of drinking water facilities in Channi Himmat, Mr. Bhalla said that Government has earmarked Rs. 3 crore for digging of two deep drill tubewells, adding that the projects would be started by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) by the end of this month after completing all codal formalities including tendering.
The Minister inspected the ongoing construction work of flats at Channi Himmat, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 449.10 lakh under self-financing scheme by July this year. He asked the Housing Board to put their sincere efforts in completing the project within prescribed time frame so that the flats could be handed over to the applicants as per commitment.
Earlier, at Nai Basti W.No. 23, Mr. Bhalla laid foundation stone for construction of six lanes and drains of the area, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 19 lakh. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to complete the project within prescribed time frame for the convenience of general masses.
At Trikuta Nagar Sector-5 W. No. 54, the Minister inspected the ongoing construction of slab over nallah near Panj Mandir. He asked the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) to complete the project within stipulated time frame for which Government has earmarked Rs. 10 lakh. He said there would be no compromise on the quality of the work . He said Government was spending crores of rupees for providing all basic amenities to the people of every area of the State.
Later, at Gujjar Colony in Sunjwan, Mr. Bhalla also conducted Public Grievances Redressal Camp and assessed their genuine demands like development of recreational park, upgradation of lanes, drains besides regularization of allotted land by JDA.
