NDS demands renaming of Jammu Radio Station

JAMMU, Sept 21: Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) Jammu has demanded renaming of Jammu Radio Station.
In its executive body meeting held today, the members of the Sanstha expressed deep concern over the nomenclature of Jammu Radio Station as Radio Kashmir Jammu.
They said that Radio Station besides other communication motives is meant to propagate the linguistic, cultural and social aspirations of Jammu Region and accordingly its name shall be Akashwani Jammu or Radio Jammu or Air Jammu and it should only be used for all announcements during its operation.
The meeting also observed with anguish that the identity of Jammu region gets shadowed with the name ‘Radio Kashmir Jammu’ and it reflects that Jammu region is sub-serviant to some other region. The participants appealed to the concerned authorities to remove this age old anomaly and restore the self respect of Jammuites in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, president, Nami Dogri Sanstha said that Radio Stations of J&K in different provinces should be on the name of province itself.
Later, a Kahani Goshthi presided over by Randhir Singh Raipuria, president of Dogra Mandal, was also organized. Those who read their stories were Sham Talib, Harish Kaila and Yash Pal Yash which highlighted different social aspects.
Those who attending the meeting were Sham Lal Shastri, RS Jasrotia, Baldev Singh Bandral, Lakshman Singh, Moti Singh, Virender Singh, Bachan Singh, Chaman Lal , Sagoch and others.
