NDPS accused attempts suicide in Police Station

UDHAMPUR, Aug 5: In an attempt to committee suicide, an NDPS accused jumped from first floor of the Udhampur Police Station and got his both legs fractured, here this morning.
The accused, identified as Shubam Gupta alias Gaggu, son of Yash Paul of Ward number .8, near Pandu Mandir, Ram Nagar Chowk, Udhampur , was arrested yesterday in case FIR number 395/2018, under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act and was lodged in Police lockup at PS Udhampur, said SHO Vijay Choudhary.
The incident took place in the wee hours today when he was being taken back to the lockup after his responding to the call of nature. He ran towards stairs and reached on first floor from where he jumped down with an intention to commit suicide.
Police immediately rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu for advanced tests. As no critical injury, except fracture in both the legs, was detected, he was again shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for further treatment.
A case FIR number 398/2018 under section 309 RPC has been registered into today’s incident.
