NDA crosses majority mark

JAMMU, Apr 14: The BJP led NDA was all set to cross the majority figure of 272 with latest opinion poll conducted by Hansa Research for NDTV giving NDA 275 seats in 543 seats of Lok Sabha in which the BJP alone was posed to register best ever performance by getting 226 seats.
The UPA was projected to get 111 seats with Congress recording worst ever performance getting just 92 seats, the first time when the party would be confined to double digit.
The BJP, led by Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would get 226 seats, the party’s strongest performance ever, the NDTV-Hansa Group opinion poll said.
It added that the Congress-led incumbent coalition gets 111 seats. The Congress, whose campaign is being fronted by Rahul Gandhi, would get just 92 seats, the poll said.
The opinion poll showed BJP+ gaining eight per cent vote countrywide. The BJP+ had polled 26.5 per cent votes in 2009 Parliamentary elections while this time they were getting 34.5 per cent votes. The Congress vote share has dropped to 25.6 per cent as against 33.2 per cent in 2009.
The opinion poll gave BJP+ 51 seats in Uttar Pradesh from out of 80, a gain of 41 while Samajwadi Party was getting 14 seats, BSP 10 and Cong+ 5.
In Rajasthan, BJP was projects to get 21 seats out of 25, Congress 3 and Others 1. While in Punjab, SAD-BJP alliance was getting 7 seats and Congress 6.
In 10 seats of Haryana, BJP+ were projected to get 6 seats, Cong and INLD 2 seats each.
In Modi headed Gujarat, BJP was poised to get 22 seats and Congress 4 in the total of 26 seats.
In Maharashtra, which accounted for 48 seats, the BJP and its allies were getting 37 seats, Congress 9, Raj Thackeray’s MNS 1 and Others 1.
In Madhya Pradesh, which has 26 Lok Sabha seats, BJP was getting 26 and Congress 3. In Karnataka, BJP would get 12 seats, Congress 14 and JDS 2. The BJP was unable to open its account in Kerala, according to the opinion poll, which gave LDF 12 seats and UDF 8 in the total of 20 seats.
In 40 seats of Bihar, BJP+ was pegged to get 24, RJD+ 12 and JDU 4. In New Delhi, the opinion poll blanked the Congress giving 6 seats to BJP and one to AAP. In Chhatisgarh, BJP was getting 8 seats and Congress 3 in the total of 11.The BJP was also unable to open its account in West Bengal, which has 42 seats. TMC was projected to get 30, Left 8 and Congress 4.
The BJP was, however, doing well in Orissa taking 7 seats as against 13 of Biju Janata Dal and one of Congress in total of 21 seats. Out of 14 seats in Jharkhand, BJP was posed to get 12 and Cong+ 2. In Telangana TRS was getting 8, Congress 5, BJP+ 3 and Others 1 out of a total of 17 seats.
In Andhra Pradesh, TDP and BJP alliance was getting 15 seats, YSRC 9 and Congress 1.
In Tamil Nadu AIADMK was projected to get 22 seats, DMK 14 and BJP+ 3.
