JAMMU, Jan 17: The PG Department of Education, University of Jammu has been recognized by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) New Delhi—the regulatory body of teacher education in the country.
A handout stated that in the recent meeting held in New Delhi, NCTE after undergoing all documentary submissions made by the Department as well as by the visit of Virtual Visiting Team of NCTE, recognized the Degree of M.Ed being imparted from the PG Deptt of Education from 2025 onwards.
It is pertinent to mention here that teacher education was not regulated by NCTE prior to October 2019 in J&K and all the degrees like B.Ed, M.Ed, BP.Ed as well as of MP.Ed were not requiring any validation from NCTE but after 2019.
Due to imposition of central regulations, the entire curriculum of teacher education is being regulated by NCTE. So it was important that anyone who passes out M.Ed, B.Ed or BP.Ed or MP.Ed must be from such an institution which is recognized by NCTE.
Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu applauded the efforts and congratulated the faculty, staff, scholars and students in achieving the unique distinction of being one of the first institutions of Teacher Education in J&K to be conferred with NCTE recognition.
