NCP’s concern over migration of people from border areas

JAMMU, Oct 22: Expressing serious concern over continuous firing from across the border belt from Kathua to Akhnoor resulting in migration of people, former Minister and chief NCP has urged the Central Government to raise Battalions of Border Scouts on the pattern of Ladakh Scouts for strengthening security grid in the frontier areas of the State.
In a statement issued here today after intensive touring of the border areas, Singh said till Border Scouts are raised, immediate steps should be taken to constitute Border Village Defence Committees and provided with  sophisticated weapons to instill confidence among the people of the Border areas who are facing serious hardships and are forced to leave their homes and herds because of continued shelling from Pakistan.
He also demanded that an integrated action plan be immediately formulated and implemented in a time bound manner for ensuring safety, security and rapid socio economic development of the border areas.
He also suggested relocating the border fencing to ensure against any infiltration from across the border.
