JAMMU, Nov 23: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released manifesto of the party and also announced names of 14 candidates for the Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be started in Jammu and Kashmir from November 25.
Addressing a press conference, State President of NCP Randhir Singh said NCP has made its presence felt in the State in the last fifteen years since its formation. It has created a niche firmly rooted value based politics, highly balanced approach and reaching out to the remotest and neglected corners of the State”, he added.
He further disclosed that NCP will support independent candidates including Charanjit Singh from Kathua, Lal Chand from Bani, Saraf Singh from Reasi and Pawan Gupta from Udhampur.
According to the party manifesto, NCP will formulate a policy for youth focusing on employment generation and skill endowment, an effective network of flyovers, decongestion and creating parking lots, a policy framework for the children would be worked out particularly to ameliorate the conditions of those working as pithuwalas and poniwalas at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, etc, representation to women in various positions with equal opportunities in terms of access to services, Accountability Commission would be revamped and made an effective body and implementation of Right to Information Act in the State as passed by the Parliament.
On the occasion, Dev Raj, Founder President Sarpanch Association and President Basmati Rice Growers Association of J&K joined NCP along with his followers from Kathua to Poonch.
NCP State President further stated that Sharad Pawar, National President, NCP approved candidature of Dev Raj from Suchetgarh constituency, adding that Dev Raj has also been appointed as Chairman of NCP Kissan Sabha J&K and member of the State working committee by Sharad Pawar.
Apart from Dev Raj, NCP also announced the list of 13 other candidates for Assembly polls. Kamal Gupta will be NCP candidate from Jammu West constituency, Gulam Mohammad Pal from Chadoora, Nazir Ahmed Bhat from Zadibal, Iqasumar Bhat from Habbakadal, Saifullak Khan from Kupwara, Mohamed Shafi Naz from Gulmarg, Dev Raj from Suchetgarh, Bhaari Singh from Bhaderwah, Bhajan Lal Totura from Chammb, Vijay Kumar Atri from Samba, Aizaz Hussain Naik from Kishtwar, Gourav Kapoor from Gandhi Nagar, Sandeep Singh Manhas from Marh and Krishan Kumar Digra from Bishnah.
