VIJAYPUR, Nov 21: National Conference candidate for Vijaypur constituency and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia on Friday assailed politically bankrupt opponents for their basic politics on sectarian lines rather than coming out with a conducive agenda to develop Jammu and Kashmir as a peaceful and progressive State.
“Record of political opportunists is replete with machinations being perpetrated to create obstacles in the progress and prosperity of the three regions of the State”, Mr Slathia said while addressing election meetings at Kandral, Bakhan Chak, Dupsari, Mandlyal, Chak Chanda, Ramloo Rasolian, Ramloo Brahamana and Govindpuri in the constituency.
Mr Slathia said the political interests of these parties are well served by polarizing the State and polluting its peaceful environs. On the contrary, he added, National Conference believes in assuaging the political aspirations of the people and not in hollow sloganeering. “This is evident from the report card of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past nearly six years and this stands testimony to the mission and commitment of the party to herald a new era of progress and development,” he said.
Exhorting the party workers to apprise people about the initiatives taken in three regions and efforts made to enhance the living conditions of people, Mr Slathia dwelt upon the developmental initiatives carried out in Vijaypur constituency as well as futuristic approach adopted while implementing various developmental projects and implementation of welfare schemes.
Those present in the meeting, included Sarpanch Raman Singh Slathia, Sarpanch Ishwar Singh Slathia, Manohar Singh, Master Janak Singh, Shiv Dev Singh, Bantoo Singh and Devinder Singh Dodi.
