NC workers hurt in stone pelting

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Several National Conference workers were injured and three of their vehicles were damaged in South Kashmir’s Lower Munda area today when shopkeepers and some youth pelted stones on them this afternoon.
Reports reaching here said that Member Legislative Council of National Conference, Abdul Majid Bhat was returning back to his native village from Jammu today. Scores of NC workers in dozens of vehicles reached at Jawahar Tunnel to accord him a warm welcome.
Shopkeepers said that few vehicles after receiving the MLC stopped at Lower Munda. “These workers took tea at the tea stalls and tried to flee in vehicles without making payments. The shopkeepers chased them and pelted stones on their vehicles when the workers were about to leave”.
Few NC workers were injured and their vehicles were also damaged. “NC workers too pelted stones which left two shopkeepers injured,” shopkeepers said.
The MLC blamed PDP workers for stone pelting. He said few our workers suffered injuries and few vehicles got damaged.
