RAJOURI, Sept 19: Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today vowed that National Conference will not allow BJP to convert Jammu and Kashmir as a hate- theatre by dividing people on religious lines in collusion with PDP to derive political mileage across the country.
Addressing block level conventions of his party at Thanamandi and Rajouri on the first day of his four-day tour to the district, the Provincial President cautioned the workers to remain vigilant against the disruptive elements who are out to polarise the situation by vitiating the atmosphere ahead of 2014 elections.
He warned peace breakers not to undermine the secular credentials of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said that they can rise in full strength to frustrate their misadventures, as they have done in the past.
Mr Rana described PDP and BJP two faces of the same coin, saying they have a common plank in keeping the state on boil to further their political interests. In this context, he referred to the clandestine understanding between the two parties during 2008 land row agitation and the recent Kishtwar disturbances. “PDP and BJP have been hand in glove to create wedge between the people.
The Provincial President dwelt in detail on the political scenario across the country and said that some parties have tailored their electoral strategies with thrust on whipping up communal passions to derive maximum political benefit. In this context he mentioned about the emergence of hardcore elements in the political horizon whose track record has been highly doubtful and deplorable. “They will do their worst to make the state like Jammu and Kashmir a flash point by dividing the people and exploiting it elsewhere in the country”, he said and drew the attention of the people to the recent disturbances in Kishtwar.
The Provincial President asked the party workers to get prepared for the big democratic exercise next year. He exuded confidence that his party will emerge victorious in the elections at the strength of extremely good work done by the government led by Omar Abdullah.
He said that National Conference is committed to the agenda set for securing and safeguarding political rights of the people besides ensuring faster socio-economic development of the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. To achieve this, he said, the party has to strive hard and play its prominent role by taking the people of three regions along.
Referring to the developmental initiatives taken by Omar Abdullah led Government during the past over four and half years, Mr Rana said this has unnerved the opposition which find their political space shrinking and hence resort to real politik. He said that a massive developmental effort is underway to ensure inclusive development of the state with focus on remote and far-flung areas.
