JAMMU, Mar 24: Panun Kashmir (PK) held the meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) here, today. The meeting was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo.
The meeting, while expressing satisfaction over the decisions of the Government appreciated the efforts to register cases against separatist leaders in the Jammu & Kashmir State under FEMA. The meeting among others was attended by Prof. M.L.Raina, advisor to president, Upinder Kaul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org.), Ashok Chrungoo, treasurer, Sameer Bhat, convener-Panun Kashmir Youth, S.K.Bhat and Pramod Durrani.
The meeting also decided to relieve Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo of all his responsibilities in the organisation forthwith and entrusted all presidential responsibilities of P K to Virender Raina, working president and Chairman, Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of PK. It may be noted that Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo was recently declared by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as its State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs.
Prof. M.L.Raina, in his address said that the Government of India has taken a bold decision to ban the Jamate Islami and JKLF. In fact these decisions should have been taken by the Congress Government in 1989, however, it is satisfying that the Modi Government has finally called it a day for these outlawed organisations.
P K appealed the Government of India to immediately establish a “Special Crimes Tribunal” to investigate the serious human rights violations committed against the Kashmiri Pandit community and the Sikhs of Kashmir on the basis of the decision of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that ‘acts akin to genocide have occurred in respect of the Kashmiri Pandits.’
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, the outgoing president of P K in his address said that the Government is expected to follow its decisions by more concrete actions against the separatist and terrorist elements in the Jammu and Kashmir State in consonance with its policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
He also said that Farooq Abdullah is using the same language that he used at the time of entering into alliance with the Rajiv Congress in 1987. What happened after his alliance and the statement in the J&K State in and after 1987 is a part of the unfortunate history.
He and his National Conference along with the PDP seem to be again on the same path leading the State to the destination of death and destruction. “We caution people against such elements who have been a party to the exodus and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandit community in 1989-90”, he added.
