JAMMU, Apr 9: National Conference (NC) candidate from Anantnag – Pulwama, Dr Mehboob Beg today appealed the people to vote for secularism and inclusiveness.
Addressing an impressive road show in Noorabad Kulgam along with provincial president of the party Nasir Aslam Wani and Minister of Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Dr Beg asked the people of Noorabad to vote for the NC-Congress coalition so that the secular ethos of this country and of the State of J&K could be protected against divisive designs and forces.
Dr Beg said that BJP’s manifesto had made it amply clear that Narendra Modi aims at diluting the State’s special status – a daydream that has no legal or constitutional possibility. Dr Beg asked the people to beware of PDP’s tactical alliance with BJP, which is now a matter proven beyond any reasonable doubt. The same people who are now running the charade of PDP have been involved in sabotaging democratically elected Governments in J&K, in bringing draconian laws to the State and have supervised some of the most gruesome incidents of violence and human rights abuses that J&K has witnessed.
Nasir Aslam Wani and Sakina Itoo also addressed people at various places during the roadshow and asked people to vote in large numbers for the NC-Congress coalition candidate so that their voice could continue to be represented in Delhi without any inhibition or reluctance. The NC leaders said that Mehbooba Mufti during her tenure in the Parliament had refused to stand up and speak on behalf of the people of J&K and had rather opted to remain a mute spectator. Unlike Mehbooba Mufti, NC leaders have spoken on behalf of their people with poise and conviction at every available opportunity.
