NC not to join hands with BJP, ready to support PDP

SRINAGAR, Jan 12: The National Conference today reiterated their unconditional support to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the formation of Government in the State.
The core group meeting of the NC held at former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence discussed the government formation and problems faced by flood victims.
The general secretary of the NC, Ali Mohammad Sagar said here that his party is ready to give unconditional support to the PDP for government formation. “We are supporting PDP for a bigger cause, as flood affected people are in deep trouble and they need to be helped out”, he said.
Sagar said that NC has no contact with the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for the government formation. “We are not going to support the BJP in the government formation”, he added.
The NC leader Mohammad Akbar Lone also said that the party will not give support to the BJP. “We will not join hands with the BJP, no matter whatever happens,” he told reporters.
Lone, however, said that the NC is ready to join hands with the PDP for the welfare of the people of the State. “If the PDP talks about regional aspiration then as a regional party, we need to join hands with such people who work for the unity of the people of the State and we are ready to help them,” he said.
A statement issued by the NC said that the party Working President Omar Abdullah today convened a meeting of the NC Core Group at his residence in Srinagar. The routine Core Group Meeting which is convened at frequent intervals by the party was held to discuss the current political situation in the State.
“The meeting was chaired by NC Working President Omar Abdullah and attended by senior NC leaders including NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohammad Shafi Uri, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Provincial President Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani and Provincial President Jammu Devender Singh Rana”, NC spokesman Junaid Mattu said.
“Various aspects of the current political situation were discussed in the routine meeting. In addition to this, NC Working President Omar Abdullah asked senior Party leaders to ensure that party leaders and representatives remain at the service of the common masses and leave no stone unturned in seeking the timely redressal of public issues”, the NC spokesman further added.
