NC Minority Cell for deletion of M Forms

JAMMU, June 8: A meeting of NC Minority Cell was held at the Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan here today under the chairmanship of Vijay Bakaya Ex MLC and political Advisor to NC chief, Dr Farooq Abdullah to discuss the arrangements in place for ensuing elections to the Anantnag Assembly Constituency to be held on June 21.
The meeting while noting that the Government had to some extent simplified the procedure for collecting and submitting the M Forms said the filling up of M Forms was basically determent to voting and amounted to the violation of KPs fundamental right to exercise their franchise.
The meeting demanded that in order to ensure large number of migrant voters the M Forms should be dispensed with. This should be followed with setting up of 47 polling stations one for each Constituency in Kashmir instead of 15 polling stations. These polling stations be set up in Jammu and Delhi so that every registered voter can cast their vote.
It further said that in the alternative a M Form filled once should be treated as valid for all elections until such time that the voter does not intimate change in his option.
The meeting emphasized and stressed for an urgent relook at the need for M -Forms and restoration of fundamental rights to the migrant voters.
The meeting was attended by Rattan Lal Gupta, State vice president, Sheikh Basher Ahmed provincial secretary, Anil Dhar vice president provincial, M K Yogi president Migrant Cell and B K Bhat vice president Migrant Cell.
