NC, Congress legislators stage walkout from Assembly

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday witnessed noisy scenes as Opposition members of National Conference and Congress staged protest over mysterious death of a minor girl in Kathua district.
An eight year old girl, who went missing last week, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her native village in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district on Wednesday, which triggered agitation by the family and relatives.
As soon as the House resumed for day proceedings, Congress MLA G M Saroori raised in the House that why the police did not take timely action to trace the missing girl.
The member also claimed that FIR registration was also delayed by the police.Meanwhile NC legislators also stood up and created uproar.
They slammed the police action and demanded suspension of the Deputy Supintendent of Police and Station House Officer of the respective jurisdictions.
Shouting slogans, the members disrupted the House proceedings. Meanwhile Minister In-charge Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri said that enquiry has been initiated and action will be taken against the guilty.
The opposition members however, not satisfied with the reply later staged walkout from the House. (AGENCIES)
