DODA/RAJOURI, Nov 23: Coalition partners, NC and Congress have intensified joint campaign for Legislative Assembly elections in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Rajouri distircts.
Coalition partners today kick started campaign from Chenab Valley for the two seats of Legislative Council elections.
The spokesman of the National Conference Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo said that R.S. Chib, Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Devender Singh Rana, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardy, MLC and Naresh Gupta, MLC addressed one day conventions of Block Presidents, Block secretaries, district presidents, district secretaries and Panchs and Sarpanchs of National Conference and Congress from Doda and Kishtwar districts and urged the party cadre to mobilize Panchs and Sarpanchs in their respective areas to ensure the success of the two candidates for both the seats of the J&K Legislative Council of Jammu division viz Sham Lal Bhagat of Congress and Dr. Sehnaz Ganai of National Conference.
Addressing the conventions Mr . Chib said that the State Coalition Government during the last four years has functioned in the most cordial atmosphere as never seen before in the history of the State. He said time has come that this relationship gets further strengthened by ensuring victory of both the candidates of Congress and NC.
Mr Chib said that this election of J&K Legislative Council being contested jointly by the coalition partners, will lay the foundation for the coming Assembly elections in 2014. He further emphasized with confidence that both the parties will give a crushing defeat to the divisive forces.
Devender Singh Rana said that the Coalition Government in the State under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has taken certain landmark initiatives and setting up of Panchyati Raj is one of the greatest achievements besides the legislations like the Public Services Guarantee Act along with the State Accountability Commission Act, Right to Information Act and the State Vigilance Commission Act are visionary initiatives of Omar Abdullah to ensure transparency, accountability and to guarantee delivery of public services to the people in a time bound manner.
Rana urged both the parties to unitedly fight the divisive forces who have always tried to disturb the secular fabric of the State. He said National Conference – Congress are tied in an ideological bond, a bond which is for the welfare of the people of the State to keep at bay the communal forces who have always tried to divide the State on regional, religious and ethnic considerations.
Sajjad Kitchloo, Naresh Gupta, Khalid Nazib Suhrawardy also addressed gathering.
Meanwhile, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla convened several interactive meet with Sarpanchs and Panchs of Poonch, Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar and appealed them to cast their valuable vote in favour of NC-Congress partners in ensuing Member Legislative Council elections.
MLA Ejaz Jan, Vice Chairman Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board Ch Basir Ahmed Naz, Vice Chairman Pahari Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLC Jahangir Mir besides Sarpanchs and Panchs in large numbers were also attended the series of meetings.
Mr. Bhalla urged them to cast their vote in favour of NC candidate Dr. Shenaz Ganai and Congress candidate Sham Lal Bhagat in ensuing MLC election. He appealed the Sarpanchs and Panchs of the State to cast their vote in favour of coalition partners, adding that NC-Congress parties are the only authorities who fulfill the aspirations of the people including development needs.
Congress-NC candidates for Member Legislative Council accompanied with senior leaders of both the parties addressed series of election meetings at Kotranka, Kalakote, Sunderbani and Pouni today.
Speaking in these meetings the coalition candidates Sham Lal Bhagat and Dr. Shahnaz Ganai appealed to the Sarpanchs and Panchs to vote for coalition candidates in order to strengthen the Panchayat Raj system in the State. They said that the elections to the Panchayats were held after over three decades and after a long period, the Panchayats would have their representatives of Upper House of Legislatures and that they would highlight issues of Sarpanchs and Panchs and raise their voice for fully empowering the Panchayats in order to come up to the expectations of people.
They assured the electorates that they will fight for the rights of Sarpanchs and Panchs and to strengthen democracy at the grass root level.
Minister of State Shabir Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman Kissan Board Rachpal Singh, MLC Ajay Sadotra, MLC Ravinder Sharma, District & Block presidents of both the parties also addressed the gathering and sought their help and cooperation to win the election.
