NC committed to uplift women folk: Gupta

JAMMU, Sept 9: Provincial President, J&K National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta today said that NC is committed to uplift the women folk in the State, as it was the dream of NC founder, Late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah.
While addressing the party workers, which were gathered to observe death anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan, Gupta said that State Government headed by Omar Abdullah has given preference to the upliftment of women, as they constitute more than 50% of the population in the State and in this regard various projects including Widow Pension and Anmol Beti Programme have been launched for the welfare of the women folk.
Gupta asserted that the State has reserved 50% seats in professional colleges and 33% has been reserved for the ladies so that their participation on large scale in developmental activities is ensured.
Meanwhile, MLA Bimla Luthra distributed sewing machines amongst NC workers as a token of help and reminded the NC founder, late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah on his 30th death anniversary.
Addressing the party workers, Luthra said that she has been nominated MLA to help poor and down trodden people in the State particularly women folk. She hailed the programmes launched by the State Government for the welfare of women folk and vowed that she will remain active to help them.
