NC Cell, SP, others for minority status to Pandits

JAMMU, Mar 27: Various organizations have demanded granting of minority status to Kashmiri Pandits as recommended by Parliamentary Panel recently.
NC Minority Cell leaders B L Bhat Ex MLC and Ashok Kumar Munshi have demanded grant of minority status to the Kashmiri Pandits. In a statement issued here today they expressed concern over the statements of various organizations opposing the grant of the minority status to Pandits saying that it will not affect any community in the State.
Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) which held a meeting here today also demanded the grant of Minority status to the community. The meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita also criticized the Government for its failure in redressing the other demands of the Pandits and its soft approach towards the separatists.
Samajwadi Party has also supported the demand. The Party which met here today under the leadership of its vice president Col (retd) Bahadur Singh urged the Government to process the case regarding grant of Minority status to Pandits. Addressing the meeting Inderji Labroo a leader has sought the support of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in this regard. He also made an appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister Raj Nath Singh in this regard.
