NBW against 15 SP activists in a gangrape case

KASGANJ, UP, May 5:
A local court here has issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against 15 people, including the Kasganj district president of Samajwadi Party Vikram Yadav in connection with the gangrape of a Muslim woman on July 8, 2006.
Special court (Dacoity infested area) issued the non-bailable warrant against the 15 Samajwadi Party activists including Vikram on Friday.
According to police sources, Virkam Yadav and his supporters attacked the victim’s house at Garhinather village in Dolna police station area in erstwhile Etah district on July 8, 2006, when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chief minister of the state.
The SP men beat up the husband of the woman and three others — Ram Pratap, Himmat Singh and Subhash — on Vikram’s direction and gang raped the woman.
Later, when the victim approached the police to lodge a complaint, everybody including the SSP of the district, refused to entertain them. But on the directives of the court, an FIR was registered on September 6, 2006 against 15 people including Vikram Yadav.
When the SP government again came to power in 2012, Vikram Yadav tried to close the FIR which was challenged by the victims, labourers by profession. In between, the SP leaders lodged three fake cases against the victim’s husband including rape charges.
Now the court has issued NBW but police was forcing the victims for a compromise with the accused SP leader, the victim told mediapersons here yesterday. ‘They have even threatened us of dire consequences and even lured us with money to close the case,’ the victim alleged. (UNI)
