JAMMU, Aug 24: National Awami United Party (NAUP) general secretary, Manmohan Sudan has urged the Union Government to do justice with PoJK refugees as aspirations of displaced people of 1947, 1965 and 1971 have not been fulfilled though the nation celebrated 75 years of its Independence.
“Financial assistance was disbursed to a few PoJK refugees in 2016 but still many more are awaiting the same due to lack of records in revenue department,” Sudan said while addressing a press conference here today.
He appealed PM Modi led Government to deposit in single instalment the whole financial assistance amount in accounts of PoJK refugees and give reservation to their children in educational institutions and government jobs.
Monthly financial assistance at par with that given to Kashmiri migrants was also demanded for PoJK refugees.
The NAUP leader quoted Supreme Court ruling that no one can grab the land of any refugee anywhere in India and said that the same should be implemented and the Government should ensure that no one can grab the land of PoJK refugees.
Sudan appealed to PoJK refugees to remain united and not vote to parties who make false promises with them at the time of elections.
Bupinder Sharma, Vijay Chowdhury, Uttam Chand, Parveen Kumar and others were also present in the press conference.
