Natrang stages ‘Shanivaar Do Baje’

JAMMU, Sept 9: Natrang Studio Theatre today staged Surender Verma’s famous play “Shanivaar Do Baje”, directed by Anil Tickoo, in its Sunday Theatre Series.
In the play, a middle-aged married man with three kids is having an affair with a not-so-young spinster, and the two have been having a clandestine rendezvous every Saturday afternoon for the past two years, at borrowed venues, mostly the houses of the friends of the man.
Both are employed, and their relationship goes much beyond the physical, they discuss all their problems and emotions with each other.
In a critical society where illicit relationships are looked down upon, these two are neither bogged down by guilt nor share the society’s moralistic platform.
The play is not a preaching or lesson, it just peeps into someone’s life and shows the picture as it is and leaves on the audience to take it the way they want to.
Balwinder Singh and Rajni Bhatti played their roles with professional ease. Rohit Verma executed the lights and Rahul Singh operated the music. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show and Sajra Qadir did the presentations.
