JAMMU, Oct 6: This Sunday, Natrang presented two different plays at different places.
Famous Dogri play ‘Bawa Jitto’, written by Late Prof Ram Nath Shastri and directed by Balwant Thakur, was presented at the auditorium of Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra while Hindi play ‘Hawalat’, written by famous play writer Sarweshwar Dayal Sexena and directed by Neeraj Kant was presented at Natrang Studio Theatre here.
The story of the play ‘Hawalat’ staged in Sunday Theater revolves around three youth who have no place to live. It was the coldest night of the winter and they were without food and shelter. Since nobody was ready to offer them the shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up. For this they approached a police cop as criminals. For some time the cop is not ready to believe in them and asks them to establish their credentials by demonstrating their expertise in crime and past accomplishments. They try to convince him by giving series of logics. To avoid them, the cop agrees to take them to the lock-up after tying their eyes. Instead of taking them to the Police station, the cop keeps them taking round and round at one cross road and finally leaves at the place from where they had started. The play is a big satire on the exploitation of the youth by the present system. The people in power continue to sell them dreams through their hollow slogans and no one is able to realize that most important task force of the country at their prime is getting wasted.
Uplaksh Singh Kotwal as police cop portrayed a complex character very beautifully. Rahul Singh, Mohd. Yaseen and Ashwani Bali as three young men played their roles impressively. The music of the play was operated by Shivam Manhas. The lights were executed by Neeraj Kant. Sets were designed by Sushil Raina. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma. Sakshi Parkash did the presentations.
