REASI, June 12: Natrang on the behalf of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust started the screening of film ‘Gulab Gaatha’ here today at the auditorium of DC office, Reasi to commemorate the 200th anniversary of coronation of the first Dogra ruler of princely state of Jammu & Kashmir Maharaja Gulab Singh.
The series of shows were started yesterday at Udhampur. This series of screenings will also be organized in Kathua, Samba and Jammu. Babila Rakwal, Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Karan Singh inspired Balwant Thakur to write, produce and direct this first ever film in the year 2017 on the history of the great Dogra ruler who created the larger princely state of India.
Sharing his views, Director Natrang Balwant Thakur said that Natrang prides in the fact that it produced the first ever film on the creator of J&K. Lots of research and collaborative effort has gone in the production of Gulab Gaatha. He thanked Dr Karan Singh for bestowing faith in him and his team and supported in realizing this big dream production. “As we are celebrating the 200th coronation day of Maharaja Gulab Singh, it is the high time that we all volunteer to take this film to every home in J&K and sensitize younger generations about their mind blowing rich past,” he added.
The film ‘Gulab Gaatha’ is about the journey of a soldier who achieves great success at everything he initiated. His unquestionable obligatory obedience towards Lahore Durbar, his unconditional sacrifice and his conception of a kingdom has been regarded and given value in this. Gulab Singh had the qualities of a courageous warrior. He was a normal person with no lineage of royalty but he established himself as a King with the help of his bravery and continued to keep a hold on his empire because of his well-planned strategic and diplomatic intelligence.
