Natrang presents ‘Ghumayee’ for CTM, Kathua people

KATHUA Nov 4: Kathua witnessed the first ever professional world class show of  Balwant Thakur’s Internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ here this evening at Sports Stadium, which was full to its capacity. Curtsey Chenab Textile Mills Kathua and District administration, the people could avail this life-time opportunity to see the magic of a theatrical wonder.
Natrang Director Balwant Thakur while expressing his gratitude to the people of Kathua, Chenab textiles and the District administration said that he has a mission to bring a new cultural renaissance in the State through his group Natrang and only such occasions can make a difference where thousands of people expressing their cultural concerns join to support our endeavor.
Executive President of Chenab Textiles K C Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that the once dreamt of showcasing this world class play for the people of Kathua and today Chenab Textile Mills, Kathua as a part of its larger social responsibility has brought this play for the people of Kathua with the motive to promote local language and culture and assured to support such endeavors in future as well.
District Development Commissioner, Kathua Ms Zahida Khan, appreciated the initiative of Chenab Textiles Mills and Natrang Jammu for creating this historic cultural occasion for the people of Kathua. Referring to the presentation of play Ghumayee she said that this brilliant performance will surely live in the minds of the public for decades to come.
Performed over one hundred times, this globally acknowledged play “Ghumayee” is based on Dogri Folk tale of a hilly village opens with a ‘Vidai’ scene after the solemnisation of marriage and bride is being carried in a ‘Doli’ to her in-law’s place.
Natrang actors who gave outstanding performances included Anil Tickoo as ‘Dulha’, Vikrat Sharma as ‘Panni Lane Wala’, Tajasvi Sharma as ‘Dulhan’, Neeraj Kant as ‘Baap’  Sumeet Sharma as ‘Mama’, Pawan Verma as ‘Chadpala’, and  Rahul Singh as ‘Pandit’. They were supported by the remarkable acting by Rohit Verma, Sajra Qadir, Rajani Bhatti, Aarti Rajput, Uplaksh Singh Kotwal, Sushil Raina, Shivam Manhas,Anita Dhar  and Ashwani Bali.
The lights were designed by Suraj Ganjoo and Ankush Lakhnotra and Sound was audiographed by Mohd Yaseen. Suraj Singh’s out of the world singing won the hearts of all the audiences and his compositions won all-round appreciations. The properties and stage management was looked-after by Mohit Sharma, Sugam Singhal, Baljeet Singh and Vishal Sharma.
