JAMMU, Sept 8: Natrang Jammu felicitated Anil Jain, Executive Director Power Grid Corporation of India and RK Gupta, Director J&K Bank Limited here this evening at the culmination of five show series of William Shakespeare’s world classic ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at Abhinav Theatre here.
Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur hounoured these distinguished guests at the concluding programme. While speaking on the occasion, the Theatre director dwelt in detail about the collective vision of Natrang aimed at creating Jammu an International destination of culture and creative happenings. He shared his plan of developing and constructing a public cultural institution with the support of Government, public sector organisations, corporate and public contributions.
He claimed that the proposed Natrang Cultural complex will be the first of its kind cultural centre housing three performance spaces (Auditoriums) in addition to a seminar/literary interaction studio, art gallery, folk art museum, resource centre, audio/visual documentation centre, workshop spaces, classrooms etc. This complex will also have an ethnic food court, cultural souvenir shops and art sale counters, he added.
In addition to the regular performances and art shows, the proposed centre will also offer short and long term recognised Degree/Diploma courses in Music, Dance, Drama, Fine Arts and other creative fields.
Earlier, the last performance of the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ directed by Aarushi Thakur mesmerized the audience and they repeatedly applauded it for its able direction, electrifying acting and innovative stage design. Appreciating the performance, chief guest Anil Jain appreciated the efforts of the young artists.
