JAMMU, Mar 29: Natraj Natya Kunj Cultural Society Jammu today presented Dogri play ‘Garak Hoarda Manukh’ at Studio Ranglok Bakshi Nagar Jammu with the support of Sangeet Natak Akademi New Delhi.
Written and directed by Kumar .A ‘Bharti’, this play is a Dogri adaptation of Punjabi play Garak Hoarda Mannukh by Dr Davinder Singh. The play revolves around the thirst to achieve supreme power or in other way to be supreme in universe. It is a greed of mankind to be on the top of their kingdom. On the other side in the animal kingdom the vultures are trying to save their identity and do not want to indulge in the wrong tactics of mankind.
In this play the ruler wants to achieve supremacy over their political rivals and kills them with the help of his ADC Kala Bhes. The cunning Kala Bhes appeals the vultures to eat fresh flesh of mankind in place of rotten flesh of animals. He convinces them that on eating flesh of mankind they will become supreme over human beings and will not be dominated by them. For the time being vultures agree with the suggestion of Kala Bhes but on understanding the tactics of Kala Bhes they kill Shahi Bhes and young vulture pledges not to obey the evil deeds of mankind and asks child vulture not to be their tool as they have to save their own race, which is more cultured then human beings.
This experimental play is a comparison between two kingdoms i.e. animals and human beings. What made this play a treat to watch is its music and visual effects of body movements. Superb costume design brought life to the performance and highlighted the theme of the play.
