JAMMU, Apr 26: One day national seminar on the topic “Bharat Vibhajan Aur Hindi Sahitya” was organized by Department of Hindi, University of Jammu.
In the inaugural session, eminent poet, critic and playwright Dr Narinder Mohan from Delhi University, delivered key note address. He said that partition of India in 1947 was not a incident but a tragedy which has rooted itself in our sub conscious. Dr Narinder Mohan presented several citation from the literature of Hindi, Punjabi, English, Urdu and Pakistani literature which are connected with the partition. He said the main tragedy was the break up in fabric of living together. He discussed in detail reasons of partition which resulted in shifting of population on such a large scale and heavy loss of human lives.
Prof R D Sharma, JU Vice Chancellor, who presided over the function, stressed upon maintaining standards of the research papers and asked the scholars to get the papers published in the leading referred journals. Citations from research papers decide the quality of research papers, he added and called upon the scholars to interact with other scholars and share ideas to know about the latest developments in the particular areas. He said that literature can play a significant role in changing the attitude of public.
Dr Parvinder Kour, Head, Department of Hindi, presented welcome address and Dr Neelam Saraf presented vote of thanks.
In the second and third sessions, Prof Poonam , Dr Seema Sudan, Prof Urmila Rani, Prof Suresh Kumari, Prof Seema Kumari, Dr Vandana Sharma, Shiksha Rani, Neelam Devi, Vandana Sharma, Anu Plathia, Esha Verma, Jyoti Rani, Sunil Mangotra, Pooja Sharma, Sham Singh, Sunil Kumar Saleda, Bhagwati Devi , Pooja Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Rajni Kumari, Nisha Verma and Jeeta Devi presented their research papers.
Prof Jigar Mohd, Dean,Research Studies, who presided over the session,. said that there was a need to evaluate literature from different angles.
Dr Parmeshwari Sharma and Dr Om Parkash Dwivedi also spoke on this occasion.
