National Nutrition Week begins at GMC Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 6: The Department of Medicine, Dietetics and Therapeutics unit in collaboration with Indian Dietetics Association (IDA) J&K Chapter is organizing National Nutrition Week programme at Government Medical College, Jammu.
The week long programme was inaugurated by the GMC Principal Dr Ganshyam. He emphasized the role of nutrition for health of all and encouraged the students to take part and conduct such activities.
Dr Anil Mahajan, HoD Medicine also spoke on this occasion about the importance of nutrition in the eradication of malnutrition.
Dr Ratan Paul, Medical Superintendent of GMC also conveyed the importance of Nutrition in Health.
The programme include power point presentations on Nutrition care in Diebetes, Liver Diseases, Chronic Renal Failure, Gastro-intestinal disease, Naphrotic Syndrome and Renal Calculi by the Interns and moderated by faculty of Medicine, Dr Suman Kotwal, Dr Vijant Singh Chandail, Dr Ishfaq Chowdhary and Dr J B Singh.
A guest lecture on Malnutrition in children and associated diseases by Dr Ashu Jamwal, Consultant Pedeatrics is also included in the programme that shall conclude with display of diets. The theme of the display is “Healthy Food For a Healthy Living”.
Dr Vasanta Kohli, Consultant Dietetics and Therapeutics welcomed the guests and emphasized the important of traditional home made food for the health of all.
Sakshi Gupta, Intern, compeered the programme and presented vote of thanks.
