National Lok Adalats held

JAMMU, Sept 13: National Lok Adalats pertaining to criminal compoundable cases were held at Rajouri and Kargil.
A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex, Rajouri under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. One bench was constituted, which was headed by Mehmood Choudhary, CJM Rajouri and assisted by Sarfaraz Nawaz, District Mobile Magistrate, Rajouri. Similar benches were also constituted in Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kalakote, Koteranka, Bidhal and Thana Mandi.
A total of 235 cases were taken up, out of which 208 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 35150 was settled.
National Lok Adalat was held in district Kargil. Two benches were constituted on the occasion. One bench was headed by CJM Kargil and another by JMIC Zanskar. Seven cases were taken by out of which 6 cases were disposed off. The bench headed by CJM Kargil directed the payment of Rs 5000 by the accused to the victim/injured in one criminal compoundable matter and also directed non-applicant/husband to pay maintenance of Rs 5000 towards the applicant/wife.
