JAMMU, June 13: Two Weeks National Level workshop titled “Growing Role of Machine Learning in Cyber Security” was inaugurated today at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat in collaboration with IEEE and ACM Society.
This workshop aims to bring academicians, researchers and industrialists on common platforms, who are focusing in the area of machine learning & its role in the field of Cyber security.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dean (Academics and Research) Prof (Dr) Ashok Kumar Gupta, Registrar and Dean of Students, Maj Gen Rakesh Bassi (Retd), Head at CSE/IT, Prof Vivek Kumar Sehgal.
This workshop is being organized by Dr Monika Bharti, Assistant Professor, CSE/IT, Dr Pankaj Dhiman, Assistant Professor, CSE/IT, Dr Amit Kumar Jakhar, Assistant Professor, CSE/IT, as the coordinators and Dr Himanshu Jindal, Assistant Professor, CSE/IT, Ravi Raina, Mohan Sharma and Ashok Kishtwal as coordinating team members.
This workshop focuses on the introduction to machine learning and its lifecycle, decision tree classifier, role of ML in cyber security applications, role of cognitive warfare, role of cyber security in social networking, cyber-security forensic analysis using mininet network emulator, ransom-ware attack and security protocol, support vector machine, logistic regression, secure machine learning, clustering and classification, ensemble modelling, time series based analysis and exploratory analysis.
Hands-on experience on configuring and troubleshooting various attacks and resolving common issues which helps in preparing software engineers of today for securing Cyberspace with the help of Machine Learning. This program will also deliver the knowledge and skills required for configuring and analyzing the attacks by hackers.
In the inaugural ceremony, Dr Monika Bharti welcomed the participants and gave a brief about the workshop. Dr Amit Kumar Jakhar and Dr Pankaj Dhiman, detailed the schedule of the workshop.
Prof Vivek Kumar Sehgal gave an introduction to the importance of machine learning and cyber security, Dean (Academics and Research) Prof (Dr) Ashok Kumar Gupta emphasized on the practical importance of ML in real world, whereas Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajendra Kumar Sharma ask the participants for research collaborations and bringing the innovative projects using machine learning and cyber security.
Workshop is being organized in hybrid mode (online/offline).
A total of 90 participants have registered for this workshop. Their affiliation is from different industries.
The key-note speakers are from industry as well as academia.
