National honour in theatre for Tajasvi

JAMMU, Apr 18: Natrang artist, Tajasvi Sharma, has been awarded National Scholarship in theatre by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She is the only artist from the State who has been awarded this rarest National honour in theatre for the year 2013.
Daughter of Praveena Devi and Ashok Sharma, Tajasvi Sharma belongs to Hiranagar town of Kathua district and started her career in acting in Natrang in the year 2008.
The award includes rupees one lakh twenty thousand to carry the work of the exploration of new possibilities in theatre acting over a period of two years.
She has over 30 major plays to her credit in which she played the lead role. The prominent plays in which she acted included Ghumayee, Bawa Jitto, Saiyan Bhaye Kotwal, Nadi Payasi Thi, Kava Chala Hans Ki Chaal, etc.
She also has the credit of having performed in Russia, Germany, Hungary and Poland as lead player in Balwant Thakur’s much acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’. Tajasvi also has the distinction of having performed in Commonwealth Games-2010.
