NEW DELHI, Apr 2 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed here today that a National level Corona Survey was conducted across the districts in India, and based on this, a report was prepared within three working days, to attain a bird-eye view of the governance challenges faced by the nation, while coping with one of the greatest health crisis that India has seen since independence.
While formally releasing the “Covid-19 National Preparedness Survey 2020 Report” here today, Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated the entire team in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) under the Ministry of Personnel, who had worked day and night in collecting inputs from District Collectors/DMs/DCs and IAS officers within a short span of three days, and compiling inputs from as many as 410 districts from different parts of the country.
The States and Union Territories covered in the survey include Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Rajasthan, Assam, Nagaland, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Tamilnadu, Tripura, Jharkahand, Manipur, Sikkim, Lakshadweep, Pondicherry, Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Meghalaya, Mizoram, West Bengal, Kerala, Tripura and Sikkim. The objective of the survey is to develop a comparative analysis of Covid-19 preparedness across different States and Union Territories to highlight the main priorities and constraints of Covid-19 preparedness, as perceived by Civil Servants working in the field and to capture systematic and process related deficiencies at district level.
Dr Jitendra Singh observed that the Nation Preparedness Survey on Covid-19 released by him today indicates that India’s response towards fighting this pandemic is coherent, purposeful and determined. It is the close coordination at the national, State and district level, which has proved effective in combating this pandemic. Further, the Survey also gives follow – up feedback regarding Janta Curfew, National Lockdown, Economic package worth 1.7 million and RBI announcements in the last two weeks.
Dr Jitendra Singh referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on March 9 and March 24, 2020 where he had urged the people to fight the Virus with every resource available at their disposal. He said, it is heartening to note that in response to Prime Minister’s call, millions of civil servants, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, police officials and the common people across India have come together in India’s fight against Corona.
Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledged the efforts of the Civil Servants and and District Collectors across the country for cohesive implementation of the guidelines related to Covid-19.
Union Secretary, DARPG Sh Kshatrapati Shivaji, Additional Secretary, DARPG V Srinvas were present on the occasion, while Joint Secretaries J R Dubey and N B S Rajput along with other senior officers of the Department were present in the meeting through video conferencing.
