Sir,
Ref article ‘ I am a teacher’ DE Feb 10. The author depicts the plight of the teacher who being called by the people as “Kanjoos” ”Duty Choor” Bechoor Master and such derogatory and sarcastic words don’t, atleast, stick to the present teacher who now holds a good social status is well qualified and well behaved. His respect and status can be imagined from the fact that many eminent personalities started their careers as teachers such as Dr Radha Krishnan, Abdul Kalam Azad, Dr Zakir Hussain to mention a few
Having been a teacher for a pretty long duration of about 38 years (though in different capacities) has impelled me to make such people understand that a good teacher is far better than those corrupt people who exploit the innocent people but their fame and reputation does not last long especially after retirement. The teacher contributes his best to the formation of a good society, but the teachers in general should discharge their duties legitimately to entitle themselves to be called as teachers in the real sense of the term. I think such teachers who do justice to their profession will not feel dejected and are not afraid of such corrupt people who may be termed as parasites and worse than leeches as they suck the blood of the society.
Yours etc…
