JAMMU, Oct 18: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary, Dr Narinder Singh today said that naming of Nasri Tunnel after founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and martyr, Shayama Prasad Mookherjee is a great tribute to this national hero who laid down his life for total integration of J&K with rest of India.
Addressing the party activists at R S Pura today, Dr Singh said that the seeds sown by this great patriot have borne fruits after 70 years when BJP Government under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah took a historical decision by abrogating the controversial Articles 370 and 35 A.
Dr Narinder Singh, while complimenting the Union Government for naming the Nasri Tunnel after Mookherjee said that Union Surface Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh deserve all credit for this.
He said it was the Dr Mookherjee and founder of Praja Parishad Movement Pt. Prem Nath Dogra who launched a struggle in 1952 for abolition of permit system and total integration of the State with rest of India. These two visionary leaders who took cudgels with then Prime Minister, Jawhar Lal Nehru and other Congress leaders for siding with Sheikh Abdullah were jailed by the then Government. He said the maltreatment given to Dr Mookherjee in Srinagar jail resulted into his death and till date it has been a big mystery as both the State as well as Central Governments failed to probe the same.
Dr Singh said the sacrifice of Dr Mookherjee and other Praja Parishad leaders bore fruits as Modi Government removed all barriers which were in the way of J&K’s total integration with Indian Union. He said BJP is committed to development of all three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. With the opening of doors for private entrepreneurs in the J&K after abrogation of controversial articles new job opportunities for the local people will be opened which will boost the economy.
He also cautioned the people against the vicious designs of separatists and appealed them to frustrate their designs with collective will.
