KISHTWAR, June 4: Work on much talked about Naigad water supply scheme came to the grinding halt today following the objection of Forest Department.
Official sources said that Forest Department has raised objections to the laying of water supply lines through the forest area on the ground that project would cause severe damage to the green gold.
“We have suggested the Public Health Engineering Department to either follow the earlier proposed line or obtain permission from us”, said a senior officer of the Forest Department.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, G N Balwan said, “we have decided to conduct fresh survey before resolving the issue as the project is of immense importance for Kishtwar”.
