SUNDERBANI, Jan 2: In connection with 359th Parkash Utsav (birthday) of Tenth Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Sikh community today took out an impressive Nagar- Kirtan in Sunderbani area of district Rajouri today.
A grand religious procession (Shobha Yatra) started from the Gurdwara Singh Sabha at Thandapani and moved towards Sunderbani town. Due to unauthorized parking on the main road of town, some disruption was caused in the smooth movement of the religious procession.
Gatka Party from Jammu was main public attraction of the Nagar Kirtan, as youth were seen displaying martial arts (Gatka) with their swords near Old Bus Stand Sunderbani. A large number of devotees joined the religious procession. Sri Guru Granth Sahib was placed on a decorated vehicle and Ragi Jathas were accompanying, followed by Sikh Sangat.
A large number of Sikh devotees from adjoining villages of Thanda Pani, Sunderbani, Marchola, Tanda, Behanigala and other areas came to Gurdwara and offered prayers. The Nagar Kirtan was started after Ardas by Granthi of the Gurdwara, Amandeep Singh.
A highly decorated chariot was created by using open vehicle and it was fitted with loud speakers. Several religious personalities of the Sikh community were leading the Nagar Kirtan and reciting Gurbani. In front of the vehicle ‘Panj Payare’ attired in traditional dress of warriors carrying swords in hands were leading the procession. On the way several stalls were arranged for the devotees.
The programme was also organized by Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Sunderbani. Guru Ka Langer was arranged for the devotees and others.
The committee criticized the local administration for not making proper arrangements and staying away from the programme.
