KATHUA/POONCH, Jan 3: In connection with the 350th Parkash Purav of Guru Gobind Singh ji, Sikhs Sangat organised Shobha Yatras/ Nagar Kirtans at Kathua, Poonch and Nowshera towns of Jammu region today.
In Kathua town, the Sikh community members assembled at Gurdwara Singh Sabha from where a grand Shobha Yatra was taken out. A chariot had been decorated by the organizing committee members including DGPC Kathua members for the Holy Guru Granth Sahib. Some religious persons were accompanying the Nagar Kirtan and chanting sermons.
In front of the highly decorated vehicle, fitted with loud speakers, `Panj Piyaras’ clad in traditional dress of warriors, holding swords in hands were moving. The Shobha yatra after passing through various markets and main Bazaar, culminated at Gurdwara. Sikh youth displayed their martial art skills. DGPC Kathua president Charanjeet Singh Bhola supervised the whole programme.
DC Kathua, Ramesh Kumar and SSP Pawan Parihar also joined the religious procession besides other prominent persons of the town.
In Poonch city also impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out today. It was started from Gurdwara
Guru Singh Sabha and after passing through various bazaars/ markets it reached near Fort Bazaar where some religious personalities delivered lecture on the life and sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh ji. The youth of the community displayed their martial arts skills (Gatka) at the College Ground. At this ground several stalls had been established for the Sangat where Parsad (Kheer and other eatables) was offered to the participants.
SSP Poonch, JS Johar, DC MH Malik and several other officers also joined the religious procession. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the District Administration for the smooth conduct of the procession.
Similar, Nagar Kirtan was organised by the Sikh community members at Nowshera to mark the Gurpurab. A large number of members of the Sikh community including women and children attended the programme.
