DODA, May 6: Congress leader and publicity secretary of PCC Nadeem Sharief Niaz has demanded relief for the rain and flood affected people of Chenab region.
In a press statement here, Mr Niaz said that due to recent heavy rainfall several houses and shops have been fully damaged and all roads are in deplorable condition but the Government has shown no seriousness in improving roads and other infrastructure. He pointed out that in the remote areas like Bhallessa, Bhaderwah and Chiralla, massive damage has been suffered by the people. But it is very unfortunate that no relief package was provided to these people. Much hype was created for Kashmir flood relief but district Doda wasn’t even considered by the Government.
He pointed out that after earthquakes in recent years in Chenab region most of the houses developed cracks which further got weakened by recent heavy rains. He said that several houses and shops have collapsed but Govt has acted as mute spectator. No ex- gratia relief has been sanctioned for those whose houses and shops have collapsed. He demanded that people be provided relief and condition of roads be improved.
