JAMMU, Oct 13: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in association with J&K Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Union Limited (Surya Milk) today organized a cluster-level milk producers’ meet here today.

On the occasion, Suraj Shukla, Assistant Manager, NABARD, apprised that the objective of the Farmers Producers’ Organization is to help the farmers to increase income, scale down production cost, eliminate middle men and empower the farmers with bargaining power.
He told that NABARD has sanctioned this project to Surya Milk which is a renowned name in the dairy industry of J&K. NABARD will provide a financial and technical support to this Farmers Producers’ Organization, as grant under Produce Fund. He further added that around 200 dairy farmers under the aegis of “Kaushal Jammu Milk Producers Company” will be provided hand holding and capacity building support by Surya Milk.
Vikrant Dogra (Secretary, JKDCUL), while welcoming the participations, appraised that J&K Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Union Limited (Surya Milk) is the largest dairy sector organization in J&K in terms of volume and milk producers participation. He further said that technical know-how along with buy-back facilities of milk collected by new Farmers Producers’ Organization will be provided by Surya milk under the guidance or NABARD.
Vikas Dogra, Kulbhushan Khajuria, Tajindar Singh, VS Kundal, Balbir Singh, Darshan Gupta, Ashwani Kumar, Babu Ram, Rakesh Kumar, Ashwani Kumar and many other Milk Producers’ stake holders were also present and gave their valuable inputs.
