SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Vice-Chairman, Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal, Bashir Ahmad Naaz today said that holistic development of all the three regions of the State for ushering new era of development and prosperity was the priority of the State Government. He said that remarkable progress on all fronts has been witnessed by the people due to people friendly policies of the Coalition Government.
Mr. Naaz was addressing gatherings during his tour to Pahalgam today.
The Vice-Chairman inspected the Gujjar Bakerwal Boys Hostel Anantnag. He directed the Warden of the Institute for maintaining proper cleanliness and hygienic environ in and around the hostel premises. He warned the concerned that they should remain cautious about the cleanliness in future. He also directed the district administration to ensure un-interrupted power and water supply to the hostel so that the hostel inmates do not suffer.
Mr. Naaz also chaired a joint meeting of officers of district administration, State Advisory Board Members, Panchs, Sarpanchs and representatives of the general public and Taxi Union Presidents at Pahalgam and discussed the burning issues of the common masses of the area.
The Vice-Chairman stressed upon the district administration Anantnag to maintain coordination with the public as the rapport between the people and the administration is key to success for the development. He said several measures have been taken by the Government for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society especially for the development of Gujjar and Bakerwal community. He said centre is providing liberal funding for the development of ST community, besides other core sectors but need is only to utilize the funds judiciously.
On the occasion, the people of the area projected several demands. Mr. Naaz heard them patiently and the demand of Taxi Operators was settled on-the-spot whereas directions were issued regarding issuance of timber for minor repairing and renovation of houses damaged due to natural calamity.
With regard to other demands like lifting of ban on new constructions, supply of timber, firewood, placement of G B Community teachers in Middle School, Orinag and opening of two new mobile schools for GB Community, issuance of ration cards, stoppage of extraction of timber from Compartment No. 28, 31, 33 in Pahalgam forest area and conducting of survey of un-electrified villages and water supply facilities villages, Mr Naaz issued necessary directions.
Mr. Naaz directed the district administration to survey the areas and identify the left out villages and hamlets which have not been provided adequate drinking water facilities and power supply so far.
