Mystery shrouds death of Sambar deer in Jasrota Sanctuary

KATHUA Mar, 10:  A dead body of Sambar deer was found in Wild Life Sanctuary Jasrota this morning.
According to reports the body of the stag was found trapped in the boundary wire of Jasrota Wild Life Sanctuary.
Some wounds were also found on the body of the stag and possibility of hunting could not be ruled out as the Sambar was lying dead in mysterious circumstances. Number of the wild animals like deer, spotted deer, Sambar stag , leopard , hare and some mammals and other wild animals are living in Jasrota Wild Life Sanctuary .  The information of hunters’ presence came to light in past time also in this area.
The Chief Warden Wild Life Kathua, Priyanka Sareen however said that patrolling team of Wild Life Department found a Sambar Stag lying dead in mysterious circumstance in the sanctuary this morning and they informed our office. The cause of death is not yet known but a team of doctors has gone for post mortem and they will find out the cause of death. The possibility of hunting can’t be ascertained in such circumstances, she added.
“May be lightning during the night or attack by leopard can be the possibility as numbers species of wild animals are living in the sanctuary”, she said
