DODA, Jan 8: A mysterious accident at Doda turned out to be a well planned one.
This was stated by SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom while addressing a press conference here today.
“Cops have unearthed the mystery of fake accident and brought back the couple along with their daughter from Paunchkula Haryana who were said to have been drowned in River Chenab after their car plunged into the river near Gadsoo Doda on NHW-244,” the SSP told reporters.
Giving details, he said on December 20 last year, a car of Alto make bearing registration number JK06A-6311 plunged into Chenab river for which a case U/S 279, 304-A IPC was registered at Police Station Bhadarwah.
“Immediately after accident, SSP Doda, DC Doda, ASP Bhadarwah and other senior officers and rescue teams rushed to the site of accident and pressed men and machinery to launch rescue operation,” the police officer maintained, adding: “During inspection of the spot police found one broken number plate of accidental vehicle, two ID cards, Driving License and e-Shram Card of Manjeet Singh son of Pritam Singh resident of village Sengoi, Bhalara, Bhadarwah and one purse from the spot where the accidental vehicle rolled down to Chenab.”

He said that with the use of recovery vehicle the accidental vehicle was retrieved from Chenab river but no dead body/luggage was found inside it.
The SSP further said that alongside the investigation, the search was continued in Chenab river with boats of SDRF.
“As per evidences it was presumed that on December 20, 2022, Manjeet Singh son of Pritam Singh, Age 31 years, his wife Sonia Devi and daughter, 6 years were travelling in the car from Bhadarwah to Jammu. However, none of them was traced out dead or alive,” he continued.
The SSP said that other aspects of the missing family were also enquired like their financial condition etc and it came to fore that Manjeet had taken about Rs. 30 lakh loan to establish business from different banks and private lenders.
“Financial condition of Manjeet was also not good. With the usage of CCTV footages, technical team of Cyber Cell Doda was also put to the task and after getting technical lead, SSP Doda constituted a team led by Incharge Police Post Bhalla PSI, Ankush Kumar Sharma under the supervision of SHO Bhadarwah Inspector Jatinder Singh to search the missing person in Punjab/ Haryana and after hectic efforts with the help of Haryana Police the trio was located and found alive in Panchukala, Haryana and were brought back within 24 hours.
Further investigation into the matter was going on and proceedings under relevant sections shall be followed.
