MVD Samba removes obstructions, illegally parked vehicles

SAMBA, Jan 12: As a part of ongoing Road Safety Week 2023 MVD Samba today launched a drive to clear road crossings and remove illegal obstructions, idly parked vehicles along NH in Samba town.
Speaking on occasion, ARTO Rehana Tabassam said that any kind of distraction or obstruction to normal traffic is being removed along all roads as these are potential causes for accidents and fatalities.
Addressing the locals, drivers, she said that analysis of fatalities due to accidents revealed that these mainly occurred either due to careless, inattentive, over-speeding or due to non wearing of helmet. ‘So by mending one’s behaviour towards road safety the target of minimizing annual death rate can be reduced,” she added. She said that before enforcing stringent measures, initiatives are being made to motivate all stakeholders to join the drive and play a proactive role in saving precious lives.
Later, another awareness programme was organized at Vijaypur to educate drivers about latest amendments in Traffic rules and regulations.
MVI, Vikas Srivats, while addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of wearing helmets, seat belts and taking other corrective steps to ensure one’s own and others safety.
Officials from municipalities, police Traffic, drivers, locals were present on the occasion.
