Srinagar, Apr 15: District Sports Development Association (DSDA)-Srinagar in collaboration with Islamia College, Hawal organized 4th edition of Spring Champions Run at Islamia College Ground today.
Defending Champion, Muzaffer who last year had bagged this title proved his mettle again by defeating other top athletes of the Valley. With that he retained the title. In the event only top 14 athletes of Valley were allowed to participate. Muhammad SaleemWani of Sopore finished second while as Hamid of Islamia College finished third.
Earlier, the event was flagged off by District Sports Development Association (DSDA), Srinagar Tariq Rashid Ghani along with secretary DSDA, Sajid Hamid and Director Physical Education and Sports Islamia College Altaf Ur Rehman.
The event was held inside Islamia College ground with athletes having to make 20 laps of the field. Athletes from Budgam Srinagar, Ganderbal and Sopore participated in the event.
J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) Sr. Vice-President Rauf Ahmad Tramboo was chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
Hailing the event for its uniqueness he said that it is only kind of the event being held in the Valley and such type of event should be held in other sports disciplines as well.
Tariq Rashid Ghani while giving details about the event said, “It is second event within two months organized by DSDA and they will be holding more such events in coming time. Our aim is to promote sports and provide platform to the players to show their talent”.
Sajid Hamid while briefing the players said that DSDA and JKSDA has no aim of trespassing the authorities of the respective association but want to act as eye opener for them.
Among other present on the occasion were general secretary, JKSDA, Waseem Farooq, JKSDA Joint Secretary, Reyaz Wani and others.
