JAMMU, Apr 29: A protest demonstration was held after the Friday Prayers at Markazi Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan Jammu against the long pending demands of the people of the area.
The protesters raised various issues being faced by the Muslims of Jammu. Including widening of road, dilapidated lanes and by lanes, lack of proper drainage system, lack of maintenance in the graveyards, illegal encroachments of wakaf properties, delay in implementation of Sachar Committee report. use of Wakaf properties for the welfare of Muslim minorities as announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the gathering Syed Shabir Ahmed Shah President MDF (J&K) said that construction of Jamia Masjid is totally disturbed due to the inordinate delay in the widening of road from Rajinder Bazar to Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan. He said compensation has been given to those whose shops were demolished in fact new shops were given as compensation but even then widening is being deferred due to some hidden reasons. About the working of Auqaf Department Syed Shabir Ahmed Shah said that right from Wakaf Council to the Administration Office Crores of rupees have been embezzled but the Government is acting like a mute spectator. Besides, other demands enhancement of monthly salaries of Imams of Masjids of Jammu City from Rs 1500 to Rs 15,000. construction of lanes and by lanes which are in dilapidated condition showing indifferent attitude of Municipal Commissioner towards the Jamia Masjid area.
He said civic condition around the Jamia Masjid is very unhygienic, Hepatitis C has started to infect the residents of the area. But Mandeep Kour Municipal Commissioner has not bothered to visit the Jamia Masjid. Infect Khilafwarzi Section of the JMC are hand in glove with the encroachers and violators of the Municipal Laws.
Syed Shabir said that it is very unfortunate that Administrative Departments of Housing Urban Development & Revenue have repeatedly directed to the local Administration right from Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner JMC to Administrator Auqaf Islamia Jammu for the widening of road but till date no progresses is seen on the ground as a result we are forced to come on the road with our just demand.
Syed Shabir Shah also appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Dr Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister to personally visit the Jamia Masjid area to assess the gravity of the situation in Jamia Masjid area and also to order probe into the hundered crores (100) scame in the Auqaf Department Jammu. Syed Shabir further made appeal to Chief Minister that till the announcement of probe, highly corrupt J&K Wakaf Council should be immediately disarmed.
